Fresh from Sungai Pinang 3: Visits to markets

I visited the Klang Public Market at Jalan Meru yesterday morning. The response from the hawkers and traders were very positive. Many of them told me that they had attended my ceramah at the Hokkien Hall the night before and enjoyed very much the speeches from various speakers.
I then visited one of the largest pasar malam in Klang at Jalan Meru. The response was equally encouraging. I met my opponent and his entourage at the night market and some of them are leaders of the Chinese association. They looked embarrassed but I wished them well and advise them to take care of their health in view of the extensive campaign.
After the visit, I atttended a ceramah at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur to support our DAP Bukit Bintang Parliamentary candidate, Fong Kui Lun. There were about 300 people present.
Immediately after that, I rushed back to Taman Eng Ann, Klang and spoke to about 300 people for about 1 hour until 11.00 pm. They seemed to be reluctant to leave after the ceramah. That must be a good sign.

Fresh from Sungai Pinang 1: 3,000 turned up at ceramah in Klang

We organzined a ceramah at the Klang Hokkien Hall with new faces, Charles Santiago (DAP candidate for Klang Parliamentary seat), Teoh Nie Ching (DAP candidate for Serdang Parliamentary seat) and Lee Ying Ha (DAP candidate for Teratai State seat, Selangor), as speakers last night. The other 2 speakers were Ng Suee Lim (DAP candidate for Sekinchan state seat, incumbent) and I.
Without any heavy weight speaker, we had attracted more than 3,000 people to attend the ceramah. The support from the people was so overwhelming that the total collection of fund from the floor hit RM19,544.10.
After the ceramah in Klang, I rushed to Port Klang to another ceramah to give my support for Ronnie Liu (DAP candidate for Pandamaran state seat) and Manoharan (DAP candidate for Kota Alam Shah state seat).

Fund and volunteers needed

The contest in the state seat of Sungai Pinang is very significant for the Barisan Nasional as the Menteri Besar has targeted to win it and the seat of Sekinchan in order to achieve the target of 'zero opposition' in Selangor. He has the confidence that the opposition will not win all other seats.
In the last election, the Barisan Nasional had swept all the 22 Parliamentary seats in Selangor and only allowed the DAP to win 2 state seats out of 56.
As his first attack on Sungai Pinang, the Menteri Besar, Dato Seri Dr Mohd Khir bin Toyo, will meet the representatives of all the Chinese Associations and guilds in Klang at Klang Executive Club tomorrow night.
To counter, we need fund to run an effective campaign, very urgently.
Please forward your contribution direct to Hong Leong Bank A/c No. 03600078044. For cheque, the payee is DAP Klang Utara. Contact person: Mr Tan Chee Geap n(016-3345000). Please be reminded that we do not appoint any other person to collect fund for our campaign.
We also need volunteers to help us in the campaign and as polling agents on the polling day. Join us now.
The campaign operation centre is at Dapku of No. L6-4-1E, Jalan Pekan Baru 34, 41050 Klang.
Help us to help you, please.

Nomination done, campaign on

I have successful submitted my nomination form to constest in Sungai Pinang, a state seat within the Kapar Parliamentary constituency, this morning.

In fact, 2/3 of the voters in Sungai Pinang are living in Klang town centre including the oldest housing estate of Eng Ann. The rest of the voters are in Kampung Sungai Pinang and Rantau Panjang within the radius of 6 km.

My opponent from the MCA of Barisan Nasional is Dato Song Kee Chai, a businessman, aged 45.

The photo above is my theme for this election.

My election machinery has put up bunting bearing the similar theme and photograph at the lamp posts within Klang town this afternoon after confirming my nomination.
