It's the expected electricity tariffs hike which the government annouced today, as reported by Malaysiakini, as high as 12% from June 1, 2006.

We only hear about price hike for oil, assessment, electricity and water because of this and that.

Have we ever ever heard about cost cutting initiative? Only MAS launched a VSS lately but that's exception rather than norm.

Tenage should benefit from strengthening RM vs USD as I remember they borrowed in USD, right? Also, what is the real justification for increasing tariff? There should be adequate disclosure to the public as we all have vested interest!

These GLCs should look at

1)collection of doubtful debts

2)ensuring proper procurement procedures - buying only what is needed and at the right quatity

3)getting ride of excessive headcounts and ensure the right number of people are employed and ensure they are properly trained, reunerated and disciplined to achieve optimum performance

This is what provate sector do when the economic environment work against us.

If the PM tell us to change our lifestyle, the PM and the cabinets and the GLC should lead the way.
